Arkansas White-tailed Deer
Wildlife out at The Creek
Here at The Creek, White-tailed deer are the most common species of deer. They can be found in nearly every part of the state. Due to successful conservation efforts, Arkansas is known for having a healthy and thriving population of white-tailed deer.
These deer are medium-sized mammals. Bucks (males) typically weigh between 150 and 250 pounds, while does (females) are smaller, averaging 100 to 150 pounds. They have a reddish-brown coat in summer that turns grayish-brown in winter. Their distinctive white underside of the tail flashes as a signal when alarmed.
